Plug-in hybrid cars
Hybrid cars utilize a double engine (electric and conventional): an electric engine is associated with a conventional engine (e.g. petrol or diesel). During vehicle operation, therefore, you can use only the electric engine, only the internal combustion engine or both engines. The vehicle can travel up to about 50 km in electric mode only, even at typical highway speed. The total number of km which can be covered is determined by the sum of the available fuel and battery power. The batteries of the electric engine can be recharged also by connecting the vehicle with a cable to a household power outlet or through a public charging point.
